In XIIIème Siècle "CASTRUM CARCISIS" " is surrounded of a new enclosure and depends since 1223 on the powerful family on the BEAMS which have also the baronnie of Aubagne and the seigniory of Roquefort.
During the ONE HUNDRED YEAR old WAR, bands of brigands often formed by mercenaries exits of the "Large Companies" devastate Provence. It is the moment that François of the BEAMS chooses to reinforce defenses of the only maritime outlet of his field: Flanked walls of 4 8,5 height m square towers are then high surrounding several tens of dwellings.
